Making Monmouth County Home…Asbury Park

Making Monmouth County Home

Are you looking to make Monmouth County your home? Well, there are many great towns to choose from. Monmouth County is centrally located in New Jersey with 4 borders: Middlesex, Mercer and Ocean Counties with our 4th neighbor…the Shoreline!

As one of the largest counties in NJ, Monmouth County is considered a favorite offering so many different types of towns. Ask any resident and they are quick to share why their town is the best. Having major highways run through it, I consider Monmouth County the “hub” of New Jersey.  You can access other towns easily whether you travel north, south or west.

Featured Town: Asbury Park

Asbury Park is a waterfront town with a long boardwalk offering restaurants and shops to enjoy. It is a place for all ages. Cool off at the water park or beach. Then head to the arcade and a show. Asbury Park reminds me of an “Urban Beach”. While having a city feeling with many older residences and city like streets, the beach is nearby.

This seaside city is not stranger to many famous musicians. Many have had the start of their careers here at the Stone Pony. You can still catch concerts here showcasing many bands, such as New Jersey natives Bruce Springsteen and Jon Bon Jovi. The 1920s Paramount Theatre is a historical landmark.

Where should you have a meal? A few favorites are The Robinson Ale House and Stella Marina Restaurant & Bar.  Brando’s City Cucina offers great Italian food with a low light ambiance. Other places offering more casual dining are Johnny Mac’s, Wonder Bar, Asbury Ale House, Watermark and Bond Street. Cookman Street is a meeting place of restaurants and more shops and where you can find the Toast City Diner.

If you would like to know about Monmouth County or think you would like to live in Asbury Park, contact me today!

Getting Organized And Staying That Way In Your Home

Getting organized and staying that way doesn’t have to be a daunting task. Making small strides is key to accomplishing the final project. For me, organization is key for me to being productive.

Here are some organization tips for homes:

  1. Declutter: The first step in organizing your home is to declutter. Get rid of things that you no longer use or need. This will help create more space and make it easier to organize the items you do keep. Donating clothes is a way to begin while helping out others. Here’s a few to look into:
  2. Categorize: Group similar items together. For example, keep all your kitchen items in one place, and all your clothes in another.
  3. Label: Label your containers and storage boxes to make it easier to find what you’re looking for. This is especially helpful for items that you don’t use frequently.
  4. Use storage containers: Use containers and bins to store items. This will help keep them organized and make them easier to find when you need them.
  5. Utilize vertical space: Use wall shelves, over-the-door organizers, and other vertical storage solutions to maximize your storage space.
  6. Create a system: Develop a system for organizing your home and stick to it. For example, you may choose to always put your keys in a specific spot or to sort your mail as soon as you bring it in.
  7. Regularly clean and maintain: Set aside time to regularly clean and maintain your organized spaces. This will help keep clutter at bay and ensure that your home stays organized.

Maintenance in March To Protect Your Home

Your home is made of many parts that need to be maintained. The weather from each season can add wear and tear on your home’s components. As we head into March, it’s a good time for home maintenance. Home maintenance helps to protect your home. It is important to protect the exterior as a shield for the interior of the home. What good is renovating just the inside of your home if a roof leak can destroy it? When your home is maintained, not only do the systems last longer but it gives you peace of mind.

Although the weather is still cool, here are are few items you might want to address before spring is here. It makes it more tolerable to being outside rather than baking in the sun.

Exterior Maintenace:

  • Clear out gutters and downspouts: Look for clogs that could cause water to damage your home.
  • Check your roof for damage: Look for missing or cracked shingles.
  • Inspect windows and doors: Check for drafts and seal with weatherstripping.
  • Check outdoor faucets and hoses: Check for cracks or leaks.
  • Prepare your lawn and garden: Clean up debris.
  • Clean and maintain your grill: Clean built up debris on your grill.
  • Monitor your sump pump: Always test your pump to make sure it will work when needed.

Interior Maintenance:

  • Test smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors: Click the link for New Jersey’s updated codes. Check with your town, too.
  • Service your HVAC system: Service your systems and change filters.
  • Organize and clean your garage: Clean your garage before the hot weather is here.
Although some of the above may not apply to you, the ones that do are an important part of your March monthly home maintenance. Protect your investment and it will protect you.
